We handle the paperwork for the housing company
Our team will prepare a plan for the installation. You will receive a power of attorney to sign, which we will use to send the modification notification to your housing company. In some housing companies, the practice is to send the modification notification via the resident portal. In these situations, we will advise you in detail on how to fill out the form. If the housing company rejects the project for one reason or another, you will not pay anything.

Air conditioner be installed in an apartment building.
According to the Supreme Court's decision (KKO 2021:32), a housing company cannot prohibit a shareholder from installing an air conditioner (a cooling air source heat pump) on the balcony of their apartment without a justified reason. However, the housing company has the right to set conditions for the installation, for example to prevent noise pollution or protect structures. If the installation would cause unreasonable inconvenience to the company or other shareholders, the housing company can refuse permission.
Efficiency
Air conditioners (or air source heat pumps) are significantly more energy efficient and are often available in higher power ratings. In addition, air conditioners distribute air better from higher up, allowing you to cool a larger space at once.
Silence
The operating principle of an air conditioner is the same as that of portable cooling devices. The compressor part is simply moved outside, which means that the noise generated is significantly lower.
Noise pollution depends on the listener, but often does not.
Often, the limit for disruptive noise in a housing company is considered to be an average sound pressure of more than 45 dB for the outdoor unit. Coolflat only installs devices that meet this requirement.

Condensation water generated in the indoor unit flows by gravity through a hose to the balcony. There, it is led to a rainwater pipe on the balcony, i.e. a downpipe that runs through the balcony. Some downpipes have holes at the floor level. If necessary, a hole is made in the downpipe.
In some older apartment buildings, the downpipe does not pass through the balcony. In this case, the condensation water is drained into a bucket on the balcony to be emptied. It is the responsibility of the owner to empty the bucket regularly. On humid and hot summer days, about 10 liters of condensation water can be produced, or one bucketful per day.

The model you choose depends mainly on the size of the space.
In an apartment building, it is generally recommended to choose an air-source heat pump that only cools ie. an air conditioner, as devices that have heating feature enabled are more expensive. Some housing companies even require that the device not have any heating capabilities at all.
The size of the space to be cooled affects the model you choose. As a rule of thumb, it is worth choosing a 2.5 kW power class (often abbreviated as “25”) for apartments under 100 m2, and a 3.5 kW (35) power class for apartments over 100 m2. If the space has many walls, a 3.5 kW power class may be a better choice even for apartments smaller than 100 m2. With good placement, you can get more out of even a smaller power class. Another factor for the model is WiFi connectivity. Every model installed by Coolflat comes with WiFi connectivity, but some models have it built-in.
